Product Info

The Exploro Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Test is an at-home urine screening test designed to help detect early signs of urinary tract infections by identifying leukocytes (LEU) and nitrite (NIT) in urine. The test is intended for visual interpretation by comparing the color of the test pads on the test device to the included color chart, following the instructions provided.

This test is designed for screening purposes only. If you have symptoms or receive an abnormal result, consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation.

Storage

How to Use

Before you begin

Read the full instructions carefully before performing the test. Familiarize yourself with how to compare the color in the measurement zone of the device to the colorimetric card (Step 3).
Prepare all necessary items: a timer and absorbent material (e.g. paper towel).
Bring the test to room temperature of 59–80°F (15–30°C) before use.
Wash the genital area thoroughly with soap and water, then rinse well before testing.
Do not touch or remove the measurement zone.

Step 1

Remove the test device from the sealed pouch and use it immediately. Keep the colorimetric card nearby for result reading. Hold the device as shown in the instructions — your thumb should always be kept on the same side as the measurement zone.

Step 2

Begin urinating into the toilet. Do not place the device in the urine stream yet. Check urine color—your urine should not be discolored. After 1–2 seconds of passing urine, hold the device downward with the measurement zone pointing into the urine stream for 1–2 seconds, making sure the test pads are completely wet. Immediately touch the edge of the device to an absorbent material (e.g., paper towel) to remove excess urine. Lay the device down with the measurement zone facing upwards and begin timing.

Step 3

At 2 minutes, read the results using the colorimetric card. Read LEU (leukocytes) by comparing the top pad of the device with the color blocks labeled “LEU.” Read NIT (nitrite) by comparing the bottom pad with the color blocks labeled “NIT.” Move the device along the color chart to identify the matching color. Ignore any color change before 2 minutes or after 3 minutes.

When is the best time to run the test?

If you need to repeat testing, we recommend repeating the next morning using your first urine of the day. Also note: you may get a negative nitrite result when urine has not been held in the bladder for more than 4 hours.

Results

For accurate interpretation, both LEU and NIT must be read.

Case #1 — LEU: Negative / NIT: Negative
Results suggest no sign of a UTI. If you have symptoms, consult your healthcare provider; there are some cases of UTI that the test may not detect.
Case #2 — LEU: Trace / NIT: Negative
Results suggest additional testing is required. Repeat the test the next morning using your first urine of the day. If symptoms persist or the result is still trace, consult your healthcare provider.
Case #3 — LEU: Positive (+, ++, +++) / NIT: Negative
Results suggest a sign of a UTI. Retest with a new strip the next time you urinate. Be sure to clean the genital area first. If positive again, consult your healthcare provider.
Case #4 — LEU: Negative / NIT: Positive
Results suggest a sign of a UTI. Consult your healthcare provider right away.
Case #5 — LEU: Positive (+, ++, +++) / NIT: Positive

How to Use

3 Easy Steps

Prepare

Bring the test to room temperature (59–80°F / 15–30°C). Wash the genital area thoroughly with soap and water and rinse well. Open the sealed pouch and remove the test device. Hold the device by the handle only and do not touch or remove the measurement zone. Keep a timer and absorbent material (e.g., paper towel) nearby.

Run the test

Begin urinating into the toilet. After 1–2 seconds, hold the device downward with the measurement zone pointing into the urine stream for 1–2 seconds, ensuring both test pads are completely wet. Immediately touch the edge of the device to absorbent material to remove excess urine. Lay the device flat with the measurement zone facing upward and start timing.

Read the results

At 2 minutes, compare the colors on the top (LEU) and bottom (NIT) pads with the corresponding color blocks on the colorimetric card. Do not interpret results before 2 minutes or after 3 minutes. Based on the combination of LEU and NIT results, follow the IFU guidance and consult your healthcare provider if results suggest signs of a UTI or if symptoms persist.
